Hello,
What do you think of the old Neiro without line. How does it compare with the current SET. You think could be worth the money still very expensive 2º hand.
Thank you

Of the dozen original Neiro's I bought, including for myself, all but one customer sold theirs to upgrade to a Kondo amp that uses the silver input and output transformers. The Neiro used copper transformers and just didn't have the air and transparency of the others.

Thank you. You think the old Neiro is still competitive against the new Cary or vawac or coincident?

Never heard any of the 3 amps you mentioned so could not say.

Actually I own both Kondo Neiro and Ongaku. Stating that Neiro does not have "air" is typical dealer BS and a lie. Neiro is unique amp in every respect and if you have high sensitive speakers nothing will even come close to it, given the fact that you chose the right preamp. BR, mb

The need of a good pré match, is because of his low gain? he needs a active pré, even with speakers of 98 db? there is V1 and v2 versions?
thank you

MB the SOUGA leaves both the Neiro and Ongaku in the dust as they say and once you hear it you will understand the Neiro is just another amp IMHO.

Yes it definitely needs active preamp. Difference between V1 and V2 is in output transformers winding system.

thank you,
Big disappointment. Is question of gain, or «balls»? I have Coincident phono with potenciometers...

desconhecido ~ I use the SOUGA which has the same sensitivity as the Neiro with a VRE-1b pre-amp which only has 6dB of gain, have also used it with several passive pres with great effect. Speakers are 98 efficient PHY drivers.

Thank you SK. So, In your opinion the Coincident will be enouth. I'm going from Tannoy, and the phy based are my favorite. Good match with AN?

There are other factors to consider but yes it should be fine. I like to listen loud and do have a large listening room but the PHY is a 16 ohm driver with no crossover, again it has worked well with 3 different passive pres but the best match is the Steve McCormack VRE-1b IMHO.

Thank you SK,
Do you think the double twiteer, makes a really difference, thinking of the Calliope dual concentric.
Let me tell , that you have dream speakers.

Sk,
I have an interest in the Ocellia that uses the 12" PHY driver. Is there a significant difference in sound and price between the twin rweeter version and the dual concentric models?
Regards,

IMHO yes the TWIN tweeter version vs. the concentric PHY driver or even the single tweeter version is a significant upgrade. The TWIN is more coherent and has more detail and images more precisely.

Yes they are my dream speakers as well, especially if you like low watt tube amps as I do.

MB I've listened to a Neiro at length and sk is right on the money, the Neiro lacks transparency when compared to the silver transformer based Kondo units.
