Bass trap behind TV

 In many setups, especially for A/V, an LCD TV on a wooden cabinet is placed in the centre between the speakers. Is there any benefit of putting a bass trap behind the TV? Does it do anything for bass absorption or would the TV/cabinet reflect most of the bass anyway? Thanks.

 Bass traps will work behind an open frame type TV stand. But anything large and massive will block waves from reaching the trap.
