of the dreadful kind - I just got back from dinner at the local golf country club. Unfortunately, there's a guy there with a Roland synth and some sort of powered horn speaker that sounds positively dreadful! My ears get fatigued every time they are assaulted by the incredibly harsh sound. Not loud mind you - just abrasive grating on your eardrums until they hurt. We're talking Crown IC-150 bad.

How people regularly accept such painful exposure!

One persons intolerable noise is his kids genre of choice.

about the genre he played. In fact, most of it was old, schmaltzy stuff. Lawrence Welk isn't inherently *bad* sounding. The problem was the hard, edgy, shrill, fatiguing sonic signature of his "pro monitor" and amplifier. I couldn't listen to anything for long - including my favorite music when it gets drilled into my head!

I was kidding around, but even old guys can have a sound too can't they? Even if it is Lawrence Welk music it doesn't mean it can't be re-interpreted by the currently performing artist... ;-)
