Error parsing cuesheet with some rips using EAC and foobar2000

Unable to open item for playback (Error parsing cuesheet: invalid index list (line 23)):
"C:\Music\J. J. Cale - Really.cue"

This happens occasionally when ripping with EAC and playback with foobar2000. Some rips will not play at all while other rips may play a couple of times before this occurs. Once it happens it doesn't go away. It occurs one out of 70 rips or so. Any suggestions?

Do the same rips play normal a second time or do they have the same error over and over again?
Maybe post your CUE sheet so that we can see its contents?

A cue sheet can easily be edited with Notepad or whatever text editor. Usually your error means that EAC found a subindex (like index 1 or 2) on a song or two, and listed it. Just remove that line so all songs are listed the same (index zero, for example) and use the same time structure.

Once the error occurs it will not play. I have one rip which might play 2 or 3 times then it errors and I can rerip and the process is repeatable. Here is a copy of the latest troublesome rip which indicated an error on line 23. Is this indicating an error in INDEX 01 of TRACK 04?

Foobar has a cue writer utility, posted on October 7, 2010 at 00:57:56
I use it after ripping with EAC for its ease and consistancy. Doesn't import any of the data retrieved by EAC from the CD but I just add TITLE and PERFORMER myself. I didn't see it in the newest release but as I 7use cPlay I have foobar .9 installed and it works with that.

I've had odd things happen with EAC's cue maker so just stopped using it in favor of foobar's

The foobar 0.9 cue maker utility that I sometimes use does import information from the tags created by EAC or on most Internet downloads. I don't recall where I got this utility, I don't believe it came from the regular foobar2000 distribution site. Usually it is necessary to hand edit the results, as many track titles are way too long for use with cPlay. For most classical albums it is also necessary to break up a single cue sheet into separate cue sheets, one for each work.
