Hi folks. Are there any settings in Vista I should pay any attention to for sound quality running the Squeezebox software to my Duet controller? Sending WAV files in native mode as set within the Squeezebox software made a huge difference in the quality. I'm wondering if there isn't anything else I could be doing in the operating system to additionally improve the sound. Anything about downloading CDs to the computer as well? I'm using Windows Media Player to do that. Thanks.

Hi,

Operating settings should not affect the sound quality of the Squeezecenter server, only the settings in Squeezecenter itself. If you are playing the files locally on the same computer where Squeezecenter resides, using Softsqueeze or Squeezeslave, then operating system settings come into play.

I am doing this off the top of my head because I am not at home, but I think it is under Settings -> Advanced -> File Types. For FLAC you would disable native, and set the wav output to the FLAC converter.

If you have WAV file types, you would set FLAC to disable, and enable native.

That's probably not quite correct since I can't see the interface, but it should get you going anyway.

Open the web panel for Settings and click on the "Advanced" tab. Open the drop down box and click on "File Types."
