I'm getting a Futterman NYAL amp from a friend in the coming weeks and it need to be gone through since he hasn't has used it in a while. Can someone recommend a place in southern cal to have it checked out and repaired as needed? Thanks!

You could try Tom at Brooks Berdan in Monrovia. I don't know if he is familiar with that amp, but he fixes alot of tube gear (he has a good rep, Brooks wouldn't keep him if he didn't).

I suggest you find George Kaye, who I think is in NYC and still in business. Then either send the amps directly to him without opening the shipping container or have them sent to him directly, if they have not yet been shipped, with his permission of course. When it comes to that amplifier, he is da man. You cannot do as well with anyone else.

The circuit is kind of "special". I would not necessarily trust just any old tech to work on those amps, BUT there may well be a knowledgeable person in LA. You might start by asking George Kaye about that.

Give George a call...if there's a competent tech on the west coast, I'm fairly certain George will steer you their way.
