I'm fed up drawing circuits on the back of envelopes etc.

Any recomendations to a quick and easy to use freebie download to draw nice schematics on a PC ?

Oh - and it has to include valves !

LT Spice from Linear Technologies.

Free. Several sources on the web have models of various tubes.

However, if you're not simulating, then you can use the generic triode and pentode models in the base LT Spice library.

Another nice feature is the small file size. Very useful for exchanging schematics by email, etc.

Good luck.

Sure,

Go here first:

http://www.normankoren.com/Audio/Tubemodspice_article.html

Models are in the link

Read this:

http://www.duncanamps.com/technical/ltspice.html

And find lots here:

Good luck and have fun!

You'll miss the smell of solder, though!

The best source for info/models about LTSpice is the "SIM CITY" department at intactaudios forum.
