and thanks to YT here they are. I remember where I was when I heard the studio version of the track they open with (Rolling Stone) the first time. It gets going after a couple of minutes. They do a nice groove. His Miles influence is obvious. Nice to see him play sax as well. Enjoy

I just learned his tune Per Ulv (and the return of per ulv) translate to Wile E Coyote in Norweigan.

Very interesting guy, Rypdal. I used to go out with a lovely girl also called Rypdal - don't know if they were related. I worked as a musician in Oslo for 6 years and toured a lot. Rypdal lives on the coast in More og Romsdal, which is one of the most magical places on Norway. It also contains the town called Rypdal, so I guess they're all from around there originally.

I like Rypdal's use of space and electronics, though his rock roots are a bit of a turn-off for me. He used to play like Hank Marvin originally, which is a million miles from the music I sympathise with. There have been a lot of good jazz musicians in Norway and I was lucky enough to play with a few of them.

He often merges classical and ambient stuff too. Thanks for the post. I enjoyed it.
