It maybe a bit early but the fact is that I won't buy anything else this year as I just bought too much.
So here is my list

1) Stravinsky conduct Stravinsky (22 cd's)
2) The Complete Billie Holiday on Columbia (10 cd's)
3) Villa-Lobos, String Quartets [Box-Set] (6 cd's)
4) Bill Evans, The Final Recordings Live (8 cd's)

All of them available at ridiculously cheap prices certainly not more than one full price SACD.
I also bought lot's of SACD's to satisfy my audiophile needs but what is frightening is that none of them give me as much musical pleasure as the above, at the end of the day good music will always win over audio
quality

I didn't pick up much vinyl this year.....I mean, about 14 records if I recall. The only way I could afford exponents of the French School was to go the digital route....with French vinyl running me from about $22-$45 with shipping....it bled me dry. Cortot was the only one I could find on this side of the pond, but found the Box set selling for $12 used.....so why not have Alfred on both formats!!

LOL....I almost forget what the sets look like....they're all on my HDs now days.

I think you will be ill-served by the Stravinsky set. I've never cared for his recordings - dry and detached with a lack of attention to sonic beauty.

I actually love the sound of this set it suits the music very well the brass are brash the bass drum powerful, lots of ambience and details on my system the sonics are extremely good. Maybe it is system dependant??
But best of all the performances are thrilling.

i rather like the igor does igor pieces i have heard. for me its a peek at what the composer intended. yes, there are always greater perfs by other than the composer but i like what i have heard from maestro stravinsky.

The nod has to go to the Beatles Mono Box Set.........

Other purchases include the Blu-Spec Brubeck "Timeout" and Andrew Bird "Noble Beast". I didn't purchase a lot of CDs, relative to years past.

Cuarteto Latinoamericano, it is on the Dorian label but I believe that it is also available on Brilliant Classics (good sound too)
