Been playing this a lot lately. Gorgeous music, great performances, excellent recording. Five stars all around. (Vol. 4 in the Hyperion series.)

Thanks for recommendation, Mali. Different stylistically but from a contemporaneous E European composer - that Dutoit recording of the two Szymonawski concerti are striking. That 2nd concerto is for me just a wonderful piece - difficult to take in but very beautiful.

Funny you should mention the Szymanowski concertos as they came to mind when I made the OP. As a means of comparison, I was going to mention that I like the Martinu pair better than I do the Szymanowski pair, but what's the point of that? All four concertos are wonderful and unique pieces.
