Pianistin--a new word for me.

The player in question is Gesa Lücker, and the MP3s are of Liszt, Bach, one A. Lücker, and Franck. The Franck is almost all of the PC&F, and I must say, the way she rolls the "Main Gauche" chords (wherein the left hand starts the roll but then has to cross over the right and blend in, catching the top notes right in sequence) is very very impressive.

She also graces the home pages of the Schimmel piano company's web site. A piano I have not heard but which, strangely enough, I am now interested in.

Ciao,

JM

It's just a peculiarity of the German language. The suffix "in" denotes female gender. A male peformer would be a "Pianist", pronounced "pee-ahn-ist".

If you click on the CD tab in the link, you can hear her in Mozart and Prokokiev. I listened to the Hungarian Rhapsody and found the tempo fluctuations herky-jerky. Plus I was put off by the sound.

The Mozart and Prokoviev samples on the CD seem very promising in performance, and the sound is much more satisfactory to my ear. I just ordered this CD from Presto Classical in the UK -- $19 + $3.95 shipping.

JM, thanks for the link.
