Wanted to share the SUT I built with the vintage mic. transformers I got from Mike.

After locating some vintage 9 pin Octal sockets on Ebay the build went very smoothly. This was my 1st attempt at a SUT. Prior I've been using a Pro-ject tube box SE as my moving coil phono stage.

Now I'm using this unit with a Bottlehead Seduction that I had hooked up to another deck. And it absolutely shames the Pro-ject. After 25hrs. of breaking in I am wowed by the improvement. The bass is taught, snappy, and thunderous! Dramatic improvement in the dyanamic range.

My only criticism would be that I have been getting some sibilance in the upper reaches. But my intuition is that it is a cartridge issue. The only LOMC I have is a NOS Denon DL-301, original version circa 1981. And to be honest I always had a nagging dislike for this cart but the old phono stage seem to have stepped in front of it.

Anyway all in all I think it was rousing success.

Would you mind disclosing what Ebay seller you purchased the sockets from,I'm having a hard time locating them.
Thanks

Sure, seller is thermionicat.

He has another one listed, I've provided a link. I sent him a message asking if he had two when I bought mine and he did. Probably still does. I used the "make offer" option and he agreed. They came used but nicely cleaned up and worked great. Definitely vintage though.

Hope that helps.
