Review of the Red X Coordinate Pen in Postive Feedback

as "o.k." or, as proposed, "O.K." seems rooted in American english.

If you were Chinese and only spoke Mandarin and had no knowledge that o.k. were a positive, what would be the point of writing o.k.? Or O.K.?

As far as o.k. goes, I've always felt feeling o.k. is o.k., but feeling good is better than feeling o.k. Having an o.k. meal will suffice,
but having a good (or better) meal is preferable.

Then again, I am assuming that a Belt o.k. represents an okay, and that just may not be o.k.

Also, if someone writes it wrong, it may also come out representing Oklahoma, and while I have no positive OR negative
experiences with Ok., someone surely has had negative experiences with that state and this may in fact inadvertently affect the... process.

O.K. is O.K. but only seems adequate at best. The Belts may be missing the boat on this and not aiming the bar high enough. I mean, not even an A-O.K.?

I say write BEST, or CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM, or BACH or TOUMANI DIABATE or something really very much more positive
than the seemingly mediocre "o.k." to possibly achieve the very best of what this pen/tweak/theory has to offer.

And while someone is at it, why not >>>?

Was this a serious question, musetap, or a rhetorical question ? If it was a serious question then yes, you are correct - work it all the way !!!!

If you write the letters O.K, then you should write them in capital letters i.e O.K as opposed to o.k. The whole point is that you are trying to 'link into' communication - widespread use of communication - and when people write in lower case writing, everyone's style of writing is different so if O.K is written in capital letters, it has a better chance of 'linking' because O.K in capital letters will be more alike than if written in the various people's styles of lower case writing.

You have to then take into consideration the 'strength' of words and their meaning i.e the 'strength' of the 'linkage'. The letters O.K are in widespread use, most likely in every language and have a common and positive meaning.

You are going through the logical thought process, which is good.

It does not matter which language you read or speak. If you use the letters O.K you will be 'tapping into' the use (good usage) of the meaning of O.K and it's 'strength'.

Now, of course, the word (and meaning) GOOD is better than O.K. BETTER has a better meaning than good. EXCELLENT is then better than better. What you have to do is to stay with absolutely positive words (no ambiguous meaning) and words which have 'strength' i.e most commonly used. If, for example, you are Italian, you can use the equivalent word in Italian to GOOD, BETTER or EXCELLENT providing that word is not ambiguous i.e has other connotations.

The point I have always made is that you should not go into the dictionary looking for a word which means better than EXCELLENT if the word you find is some obscure word, not in general usage because it will not have the 'morphic resonance strength' of other words which ARE in common usage.

You have to see words as communication, and see communication as behavioural patterns, and then behavioural patterns becoming established as 'morphic resonance patterns', which are repeated over and over again, therefore having 'strength' !!!

The answer to that is NO. If TOUMANI DIABATE is not in general and universal usage and does not have a generally recognised positive meaning, it will not have the 'strength' of the mere words BEST or even GOOD !! This is what I mean by 'don't go down an exotic path', stay with the strongest, best positive word or words in most usage !!!

We give examples of what I mean in our Red 'x' Pen leaflet.

As Geoff says, you can experiment by using a readily available Red, Staedtler Lumocolor (permanent ink) pen with a fine tip and, for experimental purposes, the normal plain white address labels to write on.

It is fun experimenting. Write a label with the Red pen saying THIS AMPLIFIER SOUNDS O.K., attach it to the amplifier and listen. Next, write a label saying THIS AMPLIFIER PRODUCES GOOD SOUND O.K. Listen to that in comparison to the previous one and the sound will be better. Now, write a label giving the Brand name of the amplifier i.e THIS SONY AMPLIFIER PRODUCES EXCELLENT SOUND O.K. When you listen to that latest label in comparison with the previous one, you will have the best sound and then if you go back to listening with the first label in position on the amplifier, the sound - although good when you first heard that particular label, will now not be as good as with the latest label (giving the Brand name) attached.!!!

I'm seeing in your post here that there are linear thoughts and ideals in the Belt techniques and theories which have evaded me previously.

I am not expecting nor do I suggest that people "just go through the motions of following a proposed act". I expect and always presume that people will be intelligent enough to understand what we mean before they do any writing !!

Can we please stay on a sensible theme, having a discussion between sensible and intelligent people without resorting to words like 'brainless act', 'brainless ritual', and 'the user may as well be a sheep'?

Regarding my sentence "It does not matter what language you read or speak." I am meaning, by that, that there will be the equivalent in Chinese Mandarin, in Swedish, in Greek etc to the 'positive', 'good', English words such as GOOD, EXCELLENT, and that if the equivalent to those words and their meaning are in common usage in their own language, then they can use their own language. Or, they can use the English words GOOD, EXCELLENT, and even if it is not their mother tongue, those English words will still 'tap into' the 'morphic resonance strength' of those particular words, because it is the resonance of what they mean. It is the 'communication resonance' associated with those words which is the important thing and if the 'communication resonance' is common across all languages (with nothing ambiguous) then the positive effect will be similar. In exactly the same way as the Brand name SONY will be SONY - whichever language is the mother tongue of the country that SONY equipment is sold in. Just because the SONY brand is sold in other countries does not mean that the word SONY will be translated into the different languages of those countries !!!

Yep !!!!! That is why I always emphasise that people STAY with the commonly used, 'good' positive meaning words, and NOT stray into more exotic words which might have other connotations.

Words like evil, bad, war, terror, death, killing, YES, all have similar 'morphic resonance strengths' but strengths which we do not want, do not want to use and do not want to encourage !!!!!!

If you read Carol Clark's article on using the Red 'x' Pen, you will see that, unknown to her husband Dave, she substituted the 'good' label with a label saying the word BAD instead of the word good, and he reacted by saying "please switch the sound off, it sounds awful".

So what if I write: "This mid-'70s Radio Shack receiver I just got at the thrift shop for $15 sounds as good as my big Adcom?" Will that make it true? What if, instead, I say it sounds as good as a Macintosh, or a Mark Levinson, or a Conrad Johnson? Will the sound then more closely resemble one of those?

Most likely "OK" or "okay" are universally understood. The Belts are located in Britain, so most likely O.K. is OK for England as well as America. OK? Unlike the US, most or many other countries require English as second language. If the name is signed in Mandarin or Swedish, as long as the person is Chinese or Swedish, that should be OK too. OK? In other words, the language should be the one that *resonates* with you. OK? Since the red x pen "O.K." should have a period (.) after each letter, the OK abbreviation for Oklahoma is most likely a red herring and will not be as good as O.K.. OK? Please don't spread this around, this is very hush, hush, but a simple off the shelf red pen like a Sharpie fine point will suffice... not as powerful as the real red x pen but should be OK for experimental purposes.

in Mandarin. Separate the characters with mozza balls. Then see if you can eat a graham cracker and whistle at the same time.

might be interesting to try that experiment you suggested. as I understand it, the red x pen can be used on virtually any objects, even ones not related to the audio system - e.g., a book or an appliance. So could be difficult to separate out the causes and effects, esp. when several items have been treated.

A CD treated with the red x pen that is sitting on a coffee table can affect the sound of a CD being played that is not treated with the red x pen. And a book treated with the red x pen that's sitting on a bookshelf in the next room can also affect the sound of an untreated CD.

A CD, or any object, can be treated minimally with the red x pen or very extensively.
