This makes me wonder.
Could I add an entry point/door to a pair of larger horns so you could have them work as a horn and as a slide?
Would be a great excuse for larger wood horns.

I will probably have grand kids or others will within 15 years.
I better get working on this.

The horn is my bass horn part of a 4 way front horn system. Will post a pic soon. I just finished them sure I will still tweak it out for some time you know how it goes.

Congratulations on the lovely granddaughter and horns :)

Bass is supposed to sound big. 6.5" is not a woofer size.

Kloss,

Of course there is nothing cuter than that little sweat heart putting our audio stuff in practical perspective.

However, I am blown away by your skill at building such horns! You da man (the OLD MAN maybe). ;)

and living more in the moment than you or I would ever do with that horn (meaning any speaker) used for its intended purpose.

There's a lesson in there for me. Thank you for posting!

I bet she'd go faster with a driver installed. :-) nt, posted on February 23, 2012 at 04:37:18

Now spits her right out before she can reach the drivers. I knew my grand-kids and my massive hounds would mess about with my horns so I up-sized them into a play ground ;) The bass horns part of a 5 way front horn system. Will post a pic when its pretty.

Thnk you for that. 8^), posted on February 22, 2012 at 18:16:00

You are a lucky man, enjoy this time as before you are ready, it will be gone and she will be asking for the car keys.
I am still adjusting to mine growing up anyway.
Best,
Tom

I'm probably around the same age but had a late start.
A priceless scene in any case.
I had built a tall rack mount cabinet to put test equipment in but my youngest adopted it as a "storefront" so i had to wait some years before putting gear in it haha.

Fwiw, i have mentioned your son a couple times at the shop, they may be needing more help this spring.

Gorgeous little girl in a gorgeous horn! As a grandfather who builds speakers I can easily imagine what a double whammy of gratification you must get showing the two together.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the design cut off frequency of the horn?
I dream of an America where a chicken can cross the road without having it's motives questioned.

I've used it with coaxial driver and as bass horn. Bass to 35hz it does roll off before this but output at 35hz is still strong below that pretty much nothing. Sometimes I use a front loaded sub bass horn below 40hz. I also use the conical in a 4 way conical front horn system below 100hz. Pretty much how its running now. Fostex t500Amk2, conical midrange and midbass then the big conical below 100hz. I can switch it back to coaxial use in about 30 mins. Depends on my mood and music tastes at the time.

Still a spry 47. I started early my older son was such a techno nerd. Always building faster computers messin with his loudspeakers etc instead of the ladies. The next thing I know hes heading to GA got married then 2 grand-kids, my heads still spinning. But truly the GK are better than the kids makes you feel like you accomplished something once GKs arrive hope you experience this someday. When I design for my own use I must consider 1 autistic son, 2 GK, 2 Mastiffs. So things must be designed near like playground equipment.
