Reference 3A - modded?

Hello, I've had my eye on some second hand Reference 3A bookshelf speakers for a while now. I've found a pair with some Vifa tweeters. When I called the guy he mentioned he does not know the type, since the speakers have been modden (painted and a new tweeter), but sound better therefore. http://link.marktplaats.nl/293848283 Does anybody recognize the type, and can give a value judgement on whether this would be a good buy or not? (esp. wrt the modifications) Thanks!
