I have been listening to Bon Iver's "For Emma, Forever Ago" on vinyl. and MGMT Oracular Spectacular (skip the vinyl version) it sounds like arse. CD version is very good. a very young band putting out great tunes, hope they survive the industry.

Hmmm, I heard a song by MGMT the other day on Radio Paradise, I think the title was 'Kids'. It has a disco beat so at first I thought WTF?, but, realized Bill surely wouldn't play any shallow disco tunes so I listened and I kinda liked it. However, I will need to hear more before I bought the CD, that, or if I found it for 6 bucks or under.

disco beat put you off?? just the beat structure, or the feeling you got from it??

disco, tech-house, house, acid-house, and now, especially new wave (which my wifey says should be called second wave - as the first wave already crashed) have been inspiring some terrific indie pop for a while:

MGMT
Bloc Party
Bat for Lashes
Penelope[s]

just a couple

have you guys heard the new Grand Archives record or the new Blitzen Trapper on Sub Pop?? I covered both in PFO-- GREAT end of summer, mellow pop/alt-country/Wilco like styling (early Winco)

just lettin you know - good to see new music being discussed here on the asylum

yours in sound,

Don't forget Empire, they sound modern, retro and some cool melodies in there.

The band to watch this year
