I like tubes. I'm not sure I would want the image of one on my body for the rest of my life.

"I think all "tats" are seriously ugly."

I think so. On the young I wonder about their intellgence, and on the old I think of the drunken sailor who acquieses in a moment of weakness. No upside except that youthful time spent in their peer group. Some are lucky never to follow through because of social/moral barriers:

Being verboten on religious grounds.
Being stereotyped by family, employers, public.
Being wise in having foresight that tattooed skin will look really bad on sun damaged, broken down collagen dermis.

Dermatologists profit from tattoos as non-smoking R.J.Reynolds shareholders profit from lung disease.

I saw this well dressed really cute girl about 20 years old the other day and she had a baby elephant tattooed right in her cleavage.

Half of me felt sorry for her and the other half was disgusted. I try my best to ignore things that disgust me but this just really bothered me. What on earth are these young people thinking?

So I guess that they think anything goes. However, the ones that I have seen removed, leave an ugly scar. It is a big deal for the plastic surgeons here in Seattle to remove them, they advertise like Lasiks for the eyes, it must be very common.

Guess you haven't seen a really quality one or more done by some great artist?

What a joke by some reply's I have seen on this.

Worry more about how the government is screwing us.

What, we're not allowed to have an opinion because of your political persuasion?

My brother is a big tattoo fan, sporting a huge Japanese Carp down his side and full tats' down both arms. A hard core downhill mountain biker and snowboarder, he recently broke both arms in a fall.

When my dad saw the photos of Pat in hospital he asked, quite innocently,"Son, how long before those things wash off."

Poor dad, he really believed they were fake.

Nothing says forever like ink.
I can assure you if I got this piece, or any other bottle based image I'd be destined to find class d listenable.

Oh, and I must say I heart the haters. Gives me reality that I do like the right things.

Sorry to hear about your brother Mike but some of these reply's sound more judgemental than opinions.

Been there with judging what I saw until I got older and met friends of my son with colored hair etc. and when speaking to them realized just how smart they were.
Kinda like judging the book by it's cover.

Best,
Bob

Hi Bob. Got snarky there, sorry. Look, I don't have an issue with tats, as my brother said, "They're for you, no one else, if you get them to impress someone, it's a big mistake."

The fact remains though that many people, especially the young, get them due to peer pressure etc. There is the perception out there that tats are low brow. Personally I don't care, as you mention, there are worse things to lose sleep over.

As an aside, a guy in my class at school, (some years ago I might add!) got a friend to tattoo "Ace of Spades" on his neck. What this bloke actually wrote was "Ace of Spads"!! Bummer. In its place is now a scar from some hasty laser removal.

Hair color is easily changed.

Without a doubt the forty year-old tattoo is preferable to the forty year-old smokers lung.

Some books can be judged by their covers.
