Is the type of resistor used for running Mark III's in triode mode important? ie. any old resistor at the right value, or does this benefit from a higher quality one.

Any modern resistor of the proper rating will be fine. If you wish to use NOS carbon resistors, make sure they are Allen-Bradley.

Being that the resistor is such a low value(100 ohms) it's as though it's not in the circuit at all. I use 1 watt metal film resistors. I have tried CC(carbon comp) and CF(carbon film) and never heard much of a difference, if any at all. Use non inductive types as they are tied to the plate and grid(pin 3 and 4) of the power tubes.
