pas volume control pot values

I have bypassed balance and blend functions and am using only the 250 k volume control on my pas. I have left the resistors connected to the loudness tap for better linearity but am thinking of replacing the pot with a dual 1meg and deleting the loudness circuit. Any ideas on whether this is a good plan?

The way to go (if you are using the Phono Preamp section) is to make the "corrections" in the RIAA circuit (as suggested by Joe) and then replace the Volume Control with a dual 100K audio taper potentiometer. Joe has a "pre-qualified" 100 K control (it has been checked for proper "tracking" between sections) available for a reasonable cost.

Hope this helps.

Dear Bill,
Thanks for your help. I just sent a check to Joe for the 100k pot. My thinking on using a 1 meg. was that it would give a larker "span" without using the loudness taps. I'm not really an electronics guy, just a tinkerer. You probably already know this but mouser sells a dual 250k. pot with audio taper.

In my limited (2 units) experience with the Mouser 250K pots, they were no improvement over the stock units I was replacing. They also lack the loudness tap. I don't use it, but I'm anal enough to not want a dead switch on the panel.
