Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Got a chance to trade for one of these. Is it still a viable option as a jitterbuster, noise shaper, upsampler, etc. going into more current gear like the PS Audio Digital Link III or the Benchmark Dac 1 Pre? Is it even necessary? Am I being smitten by a brand name? I have no experience of Meridian since all of their products are way way outside the universe of affordability for me. I have heard good things about em, though, and I've consulted the 518 manual. It looks like the unit would serve my needs both for music and HT. HT comes second of course: I just want coherance of dialog, since I have all the power I need, and I'm not really interested in surround. Any thoughts? | |
