Greetings,
I have about 200 feet of 27ga. STRANDED SILVER PLATED wire. I want to construct a pair of 15' biwire cables for the Apogee Stage panels of the Mini-Grands. I am using upgraded Harman Kardon Citation I & II electronics to drive them. They sound very bright and sibilant. It seems there are many opinions on cable design and that the Apogee's are best with a low inductance/low capacitance wire.
Does anyone have good suggestions about wiring styles?
Thanks in advance!
Mike

If you mean SPC/PTFE Teflon mil-spec wire, stranded silver plated copper conductors, especially that of mil-spec wire tends to sound bright and sibilant, if not obviously affected by a pronounced silver plated sonic signature for any audio application other than DC umbilicals, IME. Cable makers such as Siltech, Nordost, Van den Hul, DH Labs, among others choose to implement silver plated copper wire for their designs, but their products are a different animal than that of mil-spec wire.

how much time do you have on the HK's since upgrade? Silver plated copper will make you problems worse. If you still want a geometry suggestion I'd try a star quad.

I am not an expert on cable geometry or metallurgy, but if you can get some Cardas copper and build a cable using the Cardas geometry that should mellow things out a bit. I also agree with the well borne out thinking that silver in almost any construction adds speed and treble energy. If you are averse to that sort of sound it is best to stick with copper. Cast copper has always appealed to me but the Cardas cable I have has really improved my system, whereas I hardly notice the effect of the "single crystal" copper cables I have used.

I'm using these on my Duetta Sig's and used them on my Calipers before that. Bi-wired of course. A bit of a pain to make but well worth the effort.

I use a star-quad design on my stats with good success. You can achieve low inductance with a coax design as well, such as what Sanders Sound suggests for their stats.
