Hey

Well I thought that I would make a review over the XLR version of the "Big Twist" IC from TempoElectric. First of all the cable parts (wire and tube) was sent to me and I already had the connectors (Furutech FP-601/602 Rhodium). This should be a 100% DIY cable assembly. I got some led free solder with 4,7% silver and now I was ready.
I made the cable like Joe explained from the site. Had no problems and connected the cable to my amp and CD-player. (Primare I30 & Primare D30.2)

Here are some reviews over time.

FIRST REVIEW:

The high frequency range has certainly got a boost so the degree of detail which will come more forward. There are no scary "F" and "S" sounds. Soundscape seems more calm and now I can hear before unknown details of the low frequency range. It is as before in some songs could sound like a monotonous deep bass, has now revealed that the strings actually is struck.¨

Tracks played:

Teitur - The Singer(most of the album)

Adele - 19 (most of the album)

Joni Mitchell - River

Damien Rice - The Blowers Daughter (live)

2nd. REVIEW AFTER 5 DAYS (together with my uncle):

Test CD: "James Galway & Phil Coulter - Legends"

The following numbers were played several times.

Track 4 - MNA na h-Eireann (Women of Ireland)

Track 5 - The Battle of Kinsale (The Valley of Tears)

Track 8 - Danny Boy

Track 5 was a general testing of the entire frequency range and how well the cable could separate the different instruments apart. We heard the number several times and we were both a little surprised at how clearly the different instruments stood. There were no significant mudring of bass and low frequency instrumentation. I was a little nervous that the ultra high treble from full-tone flute at these numbers would break into the right freq. area. But there was total control. This really came to its test at track at 8 - Danny Boy. But it sounded perfect

I can clearly recommend the above three numbers as reference numbers.

The bass is still Sahara dry solid and present. Nor do I run into RFI or any kind of dull treble.
I think the cable incorporates a very true and tranquil sound and I can only give the warmest recommendations for this setup.
