Well. I finally did it. I drank the Audio Note Kool-Aid and purchased a pair of the SP-e speaker cables. The Acoustic Zen Hologram II that I was using are no slouch. I really enjoyed them and Mr. Lee at AZ is great to work with.

The SP-e cables are not bright in the least and the details and tone of the instruments and Bonnie Raitt's voice on " Road Tested" are fantastic.

I am one very happy camper!

Richard

There are many ways to climb the mountain. Glad you took a step in the right direction.

Your system indicates you have piles of Audio Note equipment - your thread title is a bit confusing as if the cable was the first piece of Audio Note that you have tried.

Not calling you out or anything as I have Audio Note's level 2 Analog system myself.

church was the only island of sanity and that Jones was an especially holy figure to whom one must dedicate one's life and family. Finally, one realized life wasn't worth living without him.
So, the "Kool-Aid" drinking indeed is the last step. Is Peter really benign?

Great observation. Can any of us honestly say that we don't derive a certain amount of sanity in our own personal " Listening Asylums" There is definitely nothing benign about Peter!

Cheers!

I see how you could interpret it that way. I was trying to point out that I took the final step with the speaker wires. Sorry for the confusion. Not sure if you remember, but you convinced me a few months ago to not give up on my E-SP-e placement. I had them out in the room, and you encouraged me to keep them in the corners. Thanks for the feedback!

I did the reverse, I started with all-Lexus cabling on a non-AN system and then started to convert to AN gear. The Lexus cables work well with everything. I just purchased my first Vx and I am using it on a new CD4.1x. This is a nice combination!

Thanks! I am really enjoying the sound. I really noticed a difference once I put in the Vx. Did you hear the same? How do you like to 4.1?

Regards,

I upgraded from a CD3.1 x/II and added the Vx cable after I got my Meishu. The CDP and cable are beginning to sound very good now that I have around 300 hrs on them.

With the M3 and P3, you'd hear an improvement by moving up the transport and Dac ladder. I did by basically moving from a Dac 1.1x/Sig to a Transport Two/II and Dac 2.1 (What is inside the 4.1/x)

I envy you your P3 with the M3. I think the Meishu (P3+M2 inside) I have would sound demonstrably better with an M3 in place of the M2 inside it. Since I have double C HiB OPTs in the Meishu, I plan to do that once I get enough money.

I also think the P3 power amp sounds better than the Quest, by the way, esp. if the P3 you have has some double C OPTs. I can tell you from listening to a regular Meishu and mine, these transformers make a big difference. You have plenty of room, if you haven't done this.

Thank you for the compliments. I have traveled a ways since my Maggie 3.6 and Classe CA-400. I spoke to Peter and he agrees with your comments on the Quest -vs- the P3. I dont know what you mean by the double C OPTs. I also upgraded the stock 300B tubes to a pair of Sophia Princess and really heard a difference, but they do run blue quite a bit. Does this mean anything is amiss?

Thanks again for your time and comments. I appreciate learning from everyone on this board.

Regards

The stock transformers are not double C core. I am not sure if the S or SS models of the P3 add them. Usually, it is in one of the upgrades in the AN amp lines to add Double C core's. However, even if it is not an advertised upgrade for the P-3, one can still add the HiBs (or better) from among AN's commercially available OPTs on their web site. They are not cheap.
