Was wondering if any new diy speaker projects have come about. The only designs I seem to find are the cat 5 projects and the UBYTE. There are some new wires available that would be nice as a base for some design.
Thanks in advance.

Is there any recipies in that book that are good for amps that cannot tolerate a lot of capacitence? I have a Treshold CAS-1 and I would like to keep it from frying itself. I also really like the sound!

Forgive me if I am not terribly interested in buying a book that has no project that work with the equipment I own. I am interested in buying the book, but only if it has stuff I want to build.

I like building stuff and some years ago, I built the Jon Risch cross connected wires and then the quad version of the same, which I still own. I rate these as good but not great, and I was always suspicious about having the signal pass through the braid. Back then I found more success buying bulk DH Labs T-14 and Q-10 and terminating them myself.

Currently, I use manufactured speaker cables but I keep thinking about different DIY alternatives such as silver/copper hybrid cables using solid core OCC wires, or a variation on the simple 16awg twisted pair Bob Crump/TG Audio has had such success with. One thing holding me back has been the cost of buying a bunch of wire for speaker cables that may not work out. Also, there seems to be better alternatives out there than before, such as the availability of higher quality OCC bulk wire by Furutech and Neotech, or at the lower end the super inexpensive Speltz cables.

I would certainly be interested in hearing about what has worked out well for others, especially at mid to upper price levels, or in comparison with some of the better bulk wires available today.

When I say "just ok" I am comparing to other speaker cables I have used that are north of $1,000 for relatively short lengths. For the money, many think the CC89259 are quite good as can be seen from the feedback and reviews on the Element Cables website. I would qualify the CC89259 as nice copper cables that have good clarity and do nothing significantly wrong. IME, the quad version adds some body and depth and is a step up from the standard version. If I were to use them, I would either run the quad version, or run the quad version to the LF and the std. version to the MF/HF in a bi-wired pair. What length do you need?
