This is kind of an add-on to my cable suspension question posted in the Tweakers Asylum. Is an 8 foot length, per speaker, really the minimum length for optimal sound reproduction? I have two mono block amps about three feet from each speaker and it seems silly to me to have all that extra cable snaking around back their, with the two power cords and interconnect cables and all of their various RFI/EMI fields having a bandwidth orgy. Routing is a headache and since the area is open behind the speakers and somewhat of a pass-through, its also a ripped out cable/tripping hazard waiting to happen. Once again, Mapleshade as well as, many, many others swear by the 8 foot minimum. If that is the consensus opinion fine, I'll do the utmost, to get the best sound that I can and deal with the extra cabling. Opinions and suggestions would be helpful, since I'm currently looking into getting a new set of speaker cables. Thanks to all. |
