I've heard mention of new Bastanis OB bass driver, and 18"er. Is this the Mandala I've also heard about?

Robert, or anyone else, would be good to get as much info as possible on these things. Nothing on the Bastanis website...I'm intrigued.

Looking at the photos it appears that the 18" driver is side on, is this correct?

How does it get around the problem of the null to the sides of dipole drivers?

cheers
B.

Hi,

the new Mandala open baffle line of diy- kits is upcoming soon. The baffle- section uses the same widebands and Gemini tweeters as before (new entry level tweeters also available). The Mandala baffles are compact sized and placed on top of the woofers.
There will be two additional new woofers, one of them uses an 18" driver for a dipole- design which matches the open baffles perfectly and also offers some advantages compared to common dipole woofer- designs.
The second new woofer will be introduced later, it is a hornbased and uses a 15" driver.
The Mandala line offers much more flexibility - all woofers and baffles can be mixed, also the new diy baffle- design offers the possibility to upgrade from Prometheus (one wideband per side) to Atlas (two widebands per side) by adding a second cut- out to the baffle, no need anymore to built new baffles.
The existing Prometheus MKII- and Atlas- baffle- design futurous can be built in case that customers like the separate placement of baffles and woofers.

Wow, what a Mandela. Is a new 18" dipole woofer free, like a Mandela free?
Some more pictures from the back :)))

Does a 18" woofer has it˙s own amp. same as Atlas ?

Regards,

Wow, they look very nice!

Does a 18" woofer has it˙s own amp. same as Atlas ?

I second this question. If not, biwiring(or biamping) is needed?

Hi,

the new 18" dipole- woofers are driven by separate plate amps with integrated active crossover. The plate- amps are not built into the woofer cabinets anymore, this also allows to be more flexible.

Hi Robert

when will you update the info on your website? As you seem to have quite a few products now that are not listed.

thanks philip
