I have looked through most of the web trying to get an idea of a fair value. I am looking to purchase one. The canuck audio mart has notoriously high prices and lists one for 875. Is this in the ball park? Or, should I expect to pay 1/2 or less. I don't belong to orion blue book unfortunately. Thanks Norm

I'm not sure about the 4004 Mk II, but I wouldn't say that Canadian Audio Mart has notoriously high prices. Sure there are sellers who ask crazy amounts. But I have gotten some great deals there, even factoring in shipping costs to the US.

given the age of that unit the price sounds a bit high. there are probably so few of them for sale at this point that it will be hard to establish a benchmark.

perhaps look to the values of some comparable units.

all the best

Not a bad amp, but in my market, I'd put it in the $300 to $400 bracket.

I'd followed some 4004 (not Mk II) auctions on eBay, and I think that $400 and especially $300 are lower than you will find, especially for the Mk II. These are common enough that you can follow some eBay auctions to see what they are fetching.

If you find one at $300, I'd call that a flat-out steal. If anyone wants to sell me one for $300, shoot me a message.

I sold one in very good shape in January for 749.00. It was a MKII.

Thanks for the feed back, that's a big help. nt, posted on March 13, 2012 at 19:58:13

These are getting long in the tooth and probably will have some distortion issues with worn electronics is my experience. It was great when it was younger.

The 4004 MKI I had in for audition sounded fabulous.

And now that Indy Audio Labs has revived Aragon products, they will also provide support to their authorized repair facility in Michigan if any problems arise. That was certainly a relief to me.

Regardless, good luck in your amp hunt.

I'd never heard of Indy Audio Labs. Their website hasn't been updated in a few months, but looks promising. Would be great to see them succeed!

Yes, Indy Audio Labs were very helpful when I called with questions about the 4004. IIRC, one of the co-CEOs, Rick Santiago, was with Aragon since before they were bought by Klipsch.

Just for follow up, I picked up the Aragon 4004MkII,, posted on March 19, 2012 at 12:03:55

About the right price IMO.
This a classic, great sounding amp and built like a tank.
