I'm looking for a new amp around the 100Watt level and am curious about the Cambridge 740A. I can get one for about 55% of the new price. A couple questions if anyone can tell me-
Does the 740A have true A or B or A+B switching so I can individually run 2 sets of speakers?
Does anyone recommend something else around the same price/power output with true 2 speaker switching capability?
I run a variety of speakers in this room and currently use a Rotel RA05 which drives sensitive 8 ohm speakers well but goes into overheating protection mode when I try to run my old 4 ohm Bose 401's at decent volumes (don't Bose-bash me, the old 401's are great).
So I need more power but I want to keep the 2 speaker switching capability of the Rotel.

It has a 4 ohm stable amplifier. The 640a V2, 650a,740a, 840a have ability to run to sets of speakers.
I have the model down 640a V2 and it outputs 75x2 @ 8 ohms, 120x2 @ 4 ohms. This amp has the clarity and PRaT that my Linn had years earlier. In fact I'm using Linn interconnects and speaker wire w/ excellent results, because this amps resolution is amazing and therefore works well w/ Linn cabling. I'll bet the 740a is a step up.

You should be able to get a version 1 840A for about the same price if you can find a dealer that still has one in stock. It has A, B and AB speaker switching.
