Just wondering if the above combo is matchable. Naim equipment usually gives the impression that they could only sound good with their own equipment.

I wonder if (a) it can be done at all; (b) Has anyone done it with positive result?

Mr. Hansen what is your experience with this combo? Any customer doing it?

The best thing to do is talk to your local dealer. If you are serious about it, he will loan you a unit to try it for yourself.

If you don't live near a dealer, try calling the factory. Either Michael at ext. 223 or Steve at ext 233 would be good to talk with. They keep me chained to my desk and I don't get out much. Those guys talk to customers all day long and get much more feedback on various systems than I do.

I saw in your profile that you live in Switzerland. We do not currently have a distributor in Switzerland. It might still be worth calling the factory.

Or depending on what part of Switzerland you live in, you could call either our French, German, or Italian distributors. The Italian distributor is the newest and just signed on a few months ago, so they may not have as much experience. All of the contact information in on our website.

Thanks Charles

Actually I live in Hong Kong. I don't use AA much so I did not register for a login ID. SO may be there is another person with the moniker "Music Lover"

But Chartles do you think the NAIM 200 will work as a interim amplifier? Before I sell IT?

I'm sorry, I have no experience with any of the Naim products. I know that they have a great reputation, and that the newer models work better with a wider range of equipment. We have an excellent dealer in Hong Kong and they should be able to provide some guidance.

Ayre stuff is great, but the best performance can be had only used in balanced configuration. I don't know if the Naim is. Ayre can be used in single ended operation, and even with that compromise, it is great stuff.

Some additional info: I am considering a K-1XE pre to temporarily mate with a Naim 200 power amp. Power amp to be upgraded later.
