I am looking to purchase a used tube preamp with a phono stage to mate nicely with my conrad johnson mv-52. I am only looking for something under $1,000, preferably way under. Kindly responders here have suggested cj pv- 5 and pv 11 (why not 12?) as offering a promise of synergy - if I chose to go with a conrad johnson amp. But what of other pre-amps of solid build and great dependability/rep? I am open to suggestion, especially by folks who have made a well trodden path through tube driven things and are familiar with conrad johnson/ my power amp in particular. Thanks for all replies in advance. |
