Hello. I have two pair of B7 10K:10K input tranneys built with all nickel cores and housed in solid brass channel frames. These are single ended to single ended. No dc (they are input tranneys). For inspiration on just one way in which they can be used see Gianluca's 801 preamp circuit. MOL is 63mw (or 25 vrms). Price is $99 each. These tranneys can also be used as the basis for a transformer buffered volume control... use a 10K volume control across the secondary winding. Any series or ladder type... will work fine. Advantages include having isolation btwn source and load as well as a constant reflected impedance for your cd player (or other chosen source component) to work into.
call or email me if interested.
thanks,
Mike
Here's an interesting thing you could use for the attenuator.... load is a little bit variable, but....

Badman:Thanks for the lead. Interesting idea\application if not complex.
Beauty of using the input trans with a moreso conventional attenuator on the secondary is that it is much more straightforward in concept and execution and it sounds pretty darn good... and you actually have many choices in what type of attenuator(series, ladder, broskie hybrid) or potentiometer (Alps, PEC, Penny&Giles) you can use. If building an attenuator you have many choices in which resistors to use, what attenuation slopes you want to use, etc.

What if your source wants a min of 20k? Could you load the 10k:10k with 20k without penalty, or would you need a 20k:20k loaded with 20k?
I am not sure they fit into my cabinet ... but ... would you pls give me the dimension??
Hello Gianluca:A pair of these will fill up your shirt pocket... but should fit.
mounting centers are 2" wide
overall length is 2.375" (outside ear to outside ear)
overall height is 1.3125"and none of that mamsee pamsee mm stuff here :^)
... but I am going to use them for input duties in my next amp.Would you pls drop me a mail with shipping costs... I will try to reply in a week (travelling now).
in addition to Gianluca's neato 801 preamp circuit... check out nullspace's 27 pre....http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/magnequest/messages/6062.html
I see he was using a 100K input resistor... but if your source's output impedance is anywhere at say 1K (2K?) or below... you could easily graft on the input tranney at the front door and put a 10K volume control on the secondary side of the trans... and I'll bet you'd have a pretty darn nice sounding preamp.
