Welcome! Need support, you got it. Or share you ideas and experiences.
I have a V.35 amp ( bought a couple of years ago, finally assembled about 6 months ago!) which makes great music, and have a query.
Could anyone who has experience in tube amps or who owns one of these tell me if the temperature buildup on the mains tranny as well as the aluminium top plate is normal. I find that after my amp is on for about 60-90 minutes or more, the transformer is pretty warm to touch-I cant touch it for longer than, say 5-6 seconds; also the aluminium cover plate is pretty warm-part of this , is from the valves I suppose.
Any input welcome.Wishing all a Happy New Year..

I have a v35 as well. The heat you are feeling is normal for this amp. The amp is pulling about the maximum heater current out of the transformer and that can cause it to get warm. As this is basically a modified Dynaco ST-70 amp, I would not worry about reliability. These amps run forever and the transformer in the v35 kit is a very high quality item.I live in a cold climate and the heat from tube amps helps keep my room warm. Also, If you do not put your hand on the transformer, you will not know it is warm. You don't stick your fingers in a light socket to see if there is electricity present. Just kidding. enjoy.
Actually, I don't recall the power transformer getting this warm to the touch. Sorry but I don't have one here to verify the condition. Sounds too hot to me though.Ron
