Would it be possible to get the output stage schematics? I came across a dozen or so transformers with 84vct 3a 128v 160ma and 6.4 volt windings that might be perfect for this type of aplication.

Try the link below. This dude has designed a nifty 50 watt hybrid amplifier using Tube Cad for designing the tube input stage. Built as shown (maybe using Hitachi or perhaps International Rectifier Mosfets), it is a tretty simple design with a pretty low parts count. The Audio Amateur published a article back in 1989 about building a 150 watt mosfet hybrid amp (using Hitachi mosfets....I wonder if a old Hafler 200/220 could be modified? Same output devices)
