I have an amp with diode rectification and a standby switch. Any suggestions on initial power-up to leave the amp in standby or start it up in operate mode? Thanks.

hmmm...I would think the softstart mode would be better.Ron
Thanks for responding, I guess my message was not very clear and I could not go back in to edit it after the fact. Using the 30 second delay, should the amp be brought up in stand-by or in operate. I am thinking what would be harder on the tubes, the bump from switching into operate the first time or feeding them the ramped up high voltage. My guess would be using stand-by.By the way, The Gatekeeper is a great product! Very well thought out design. That is a very heavy duty looking power control unit. Also, the face plate is a very nicely done piece of metal and it makes the unit look its part as a high end component. I have not been able to give the unit too much critical listening yet, but the operation and functionality are wonderful. The assembly instructions were also very clear. The only thing I would add is to mention that when testing, the unit needs to have some kind of load on it to have the ramp-up operate correctly.
Thanks for another great product. Chris O
Hi chris,
I understand your question better now. Yes, it would be better to power up in the standby mode so the filaments would be softstart-ed.
Yes, the Gatekeeper/Softstart must be loaded to work. A lamp works nicely as a load as you can see the brightness increase slowly.
