Congratulations to both states for making the start of a great effort toward rectifying the mistake made a year ago. I am looking forward to real change taking place in my state of New Jersey: Lower Taxes, Higher Employment and greater opportunities. This goes to show that even when you're being outspent 2 to 1, when your opponent is resorting to the basest campaign where your weight is a target of ridicule and your opponent hides behind the apron strings of "Mama Obama", you can stick to your guns, deliver a common sense message and count on the electorate to know the difference between false change and real change.
Congratulations to the good people of Virginia too for waking up and realizing that Liberal Elitists never have and never will care for them. The results of their election remind me of what that great Republican Abe Lincoln once said, "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."
Now, what was that about the demise and relevancy of the Republican party? This is just the start.
yourself. Majorities in both exit polls state that their vote had nothing to do with Obama. Come on dude, you got a kid looking up to you.
One who recently graduated from Nursing, which I and my wife paid for, and the other is an Honor Student and a wonderful kid. We're very proud of both. I taught them my values and my best lessons. They are tolerant, but that doesn't mean they are suckers who buy into tripe and folly of the Liberal variety. They love the sinner, but hate the sin.
Now, I want you to know that I'm aware of why you bring my children into your posts. You're upset with yesterdays results and you're looking for a way to upset me. It won't work. You're a punk and a fraud. You're no Fast Tracker and you have little power in this world. You are a miserable "Have Not" who wants everyone else to be more miserable than you are because of your choices and orientation. You sought acceptance and legitimization and when you found neither was attainable at your presently unreasonable and unrealistic standards, you found your perfect boogeyman. He/she is straight, conservative, religious and happy. That's all he/she needs to be for you to despise and ridicule him.
The world is littered with your kind. You are not unique, you are not exceptional and you are not honest or honorable. If you really were exceptionally intelligent, you would make sound arguments, present indisputable facts and defeat your opposition with a better argument. Instead, you attack the ethnic background of certain inmates, belittle the religious belief of others and mock my abilities as a parent. And what does this tell any middle school grad? That you're an elitist bigot who is mad at God and has to take it out on a couple kids.
Pathetic. Sad. Obvious. Take your pick.
.
.
Have fun twisting that.
Is that good enough for you?

His posts are pure rubbish.
Every time a Republican crosses the road without falling over he claims a major triumph for the forces of Winger.
Every time a Democrat gets a splinter he claims divine retribution for mortal failings.
His posts are really pathetic in their denial of democracy.
He actually HATES the democratic process and loathes all Americans who vote differently to the way he votes.
It shows through especially in that post.
It truly is reprehensible.

It could cause a bit of a fuss over in the WC.

In a mid-term election littered with the massed zombies of Winger County goose-stepping to the emails from central control and media lapdogs all in a row like dicks... sorry... ducks, it hardly seems surprising that even towards the end of the recession-legacy of the least competent government in living memory (Bush... remember him... lies, wars...ring a bell?) people brought up on a North Korean slavering instant satisfaction soundbite consumerism are going to be dubious.
But the pathetic way some here feel an intense NEED to run around shows just what a headless chicken the GOP really is.
No leaders, no believable candidates for president.
All this election shows is what a mess the last Republican government left of America.
Many thanks to those here who choose to wipe shit over their own country for illustrating just how far the USA has fallen.

It is really a Democratic CHANGE message. I go along with this readers comment. The Democrat didn't get support because:
HE WASN'T DEMOCRATIC ENOUGH!
> > >
Gov. Jon Corzine (D-N.J.) brought this failure on himself. He has governed as a free market republican putting markets and corporate welfare (called investment) before the good of the people. Obama & the democratic party better take this as a lesson. We democrats will not tolerate free market corporate supremacists to get elected again. Democrats have gotten elected because they partner government with the people-fail to do so & you are out! We are capitalists for a 'mixed' economy where the constitutional republic is stronger than the private sector. Privatize our roads, schools, ports, and other public assets and you are out!
I wonder if this will get Daley booted here in Chicago. He's sold off so much of late, the Skyway and then the parking meters, what a fiasco that has been.
...they have to do with *moderates* voting to moderate.
They came out and voted in droves for Oabama and Democrats to moderate the mess Bush and the Republicans made.
Now some of them are voting for Republicans to moderate the Democrat's influence.
And remember, the young voters and people of color who elected Obama didn't come out to vote.
I suspect the trend will continue through next year's midterms - some Republicans will win with the moderates voting for them.
But spin it any way your little heart desires...
.
Moderates will only vote for GOP candidates when the GOP has moderates running. nt
Thats interesting. That must be how Ronald Reagan got elected by so many Reagan Democrats, because he was a moderate correct??? OOOOKKKKKK!!! whatever you say!
If the power supply waveform isn't pretty, neither is the sound in most cases.
...the Conservative mantra with the financial crisis (guilt by association) and with record deficits. Voters will be ever leery about voting for policies which would seem to lead to a repeat of discredited policies. This was IMO the biggest reason Obama got elected; a total repudiation of "Conservative" policies (as implemented by the Dubya administration.
What has unregulated, supply side economics given us ? Record deficits and an economic crisis. The GOP has to convince the "moderates/independents" that their future policies will no longer lead to economic disaster before they ever regain control of Congress/Presidency.

First time someone other than a Republican has held that seat since the mid-1800's.
What? Sarah's and Rush's little wingnut friend lost to a Democrat? Quelle horreur!
And in CA, the replacement congressman is even MORE left leaning than his predecessor?
If I were Obama, I would take the message that the voters have sent to heart: no more half hearted change to appease wingnuts - let's get it done!
When you look at polling data on approval of Dems versus Repubs, or job approval ratings, or job approval on individual issues, disapproval of Dems is definitely rising. What isn't ever covered, though, is just how much of that is attributable to progressives who are pissed at Obama and/or the Congress for attempting to appease the wing nut crowd, which they view as an hopeless endeavor.
For all the disaffection that we see aimed towards Obama and the congressional leadership, there isn't much of a correlative uptick in the approval rating of Republicans.
Yet, anyway.
Which is why a lot of this enthusiasm we see from wingers over their two gubernatorial victories really ought to be tempered.
A Democrat held the seat as early as 1993. Look at the list of Reps and their political affiliation.
But saying it hasn't been held by "someone other than a Republican" since the civil war helps fulfill your fantasy I suppose
I only use my gun whenever kindness fails
If you read into it a little more you'll discover that key term "redistricted". In 1988-92 the 23 district was in the middle of the state near Albany. That area of New York then became the 21 district, and this area of upstate New York became the 23 district. This area of upstate New York also has been called the 20th, 22,and 24 district depending on state population trends at the time and how many districts the state was allowed by the Federal Government and the census.
I know you aren't one who is big on nuance, but what I said is accurate, at least as it respects a majority (two-thirds) of the district.
Apparently, the word "redistricted" in your wiki source, matters.
I wondered where the smell of desperationw as coming from and it's the Republicans who have noticed their fear mongering is having an effect and have suddenly realised their beloved party has no viable leader.
Thanks for perfectly illustrating the mess that the nutjob extremists have made of the GOP.
;-)

It had been solidly Republican until Tauscher won a few years ago. Democrats retained control of the district Tuesday, electing Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, who said he will side faithfully with the Obama administration on health care, climate legislation and other hot-button policies. If anything, he might be further to the left than Tauscher was.

GOP.
Mind you it also increasingly resembles the headless chicken wingers noticing that they only have anonymous emails to obey and no viable candidates for the rpesidential election in 3 years time... oh yes, did you forget it's not tomorrow?
Who have you got?
Palin droning on about her book?
That's a vote winner!!!.

that by-elections world over have always, always produced the exact same results, as people are free of any sense to vote strategically for a broader outcome, and vote primarily on local, regional issues as well as to express underlying fears. In such elections, the vote far less for a party and far more for an individual.
That is the overwhelming history, and true everywhere in the democratized world.
The exit polling proves it here again.
But I wonder, how does a headless chicken goose-step?
Just wait for the replies and see...

If your line of thinking is to be followed, then America woke up to the nightmare of Dick and Shrub in 2006 and decided to change the entire landscape of Washington.
Out with the red party in Congress, out with them in the Senate - after blue gains in the previous election, no less! Seems the dumb ass party just wouldn't listen. (After reading your post, I can see why.)
If your celebration of voter insight today is evidence of voter rejection of Obama, then you must have been despondent over the vandalization Shrub wrought and his subsequent RESOUNDING repudiation at the polls. It was a world record rejection of his values and policies. How humiliating.
Are you so indoctrinated by Fox that this is how low you have to stoop to feel better about your pitiful self? "Woo Hoo! Governorship in a state that historically (look it up, if you dare) chooses a governor of the party opposite the President! I am vindicated!"
Your post shows no insight - are you a four year old with no ability to check history secretly posting on your dad's computer?
Look shit up, man.

races for governor in VA and NJ, and the congressional seat in NY as some sort of referendum on Obama. Since when have regional elections had national implications? By that logic, I must have been voting for George Bush when I voted to recall Grey Davis.....and we all know that didn't happen.
In any case, of the three races only one of the winners was going to Washington. And the democrat won. For the first time since the Civil War.
![]()
If these elections don't matter on the national level, how do you explain the national interest? Even you're commenting on it for God's sake! How do you explain Obama making 3 trips to NJ? How do you explain Biden's visits in NY?
You guys sure do crack me up in making a big point out of how it doesn't matter. Did FOX vote yesterday in NJ, NY, VA and PA? No, the people did.
But you guys keep hiding your heads in the sand and swimming in denial. It's quite entertaining! Oh, and Bruce....keep on insulting voters for being controlled by FOX. I'm sure that'll endear you Libs to the people.
All yesterdays news tomorrow.

> If these elections don't matter on the national level, how do you explain the national interest?>
24/7 news has to have something to talk about.
And the Republicans are desperate to win something for a change...
Apart from the achingly obvious fact that the next presidential election is 3 years away, the once GOP has no policies and no candidates who would have even a Palin's chance of being voted in. And that is NO CHANCE at all.
Can anyone seriously name a potential Republican presidential candidate?

Dude, your past blind idiocy precludes your current opinion.
If you want your opinion to be valid today, then you better wrap youself in the validity of 60/40 in the Senate and America telling the red party to go crap in its hat for the past two NATIONAL elections.
Can't have it both ways.
What a celebration, "Woo Hoo! Only down 60/40 in the Senate and Congress bluer than the sky...but we won two governorships."
Great, you can be a Lions fan, now. "Awesome, we won a game! The Super Bowl is therefore ours!"
See you in 2016 to see who succeeeds Obama.
I'm happy to make you a bet, by the way - right now. 2012, Obama re-elected (if he ain't been shot by one of you 'patriots.') Loser leaves the Water Cooler for a year.
![]()
You create a strawman and then bound right in to ad hominem attacks. The causes for why voters in NJ and VA went in the direction they did are the same causes that have people concerned all over the USA. Face it, if Congressional and Presidential elections were today, there would be far fewer Democrats in office.
"Obama re-elected (if he ain't been shot by one of you 'patriots.'"
And that is precisely why I'm so happy with your response. You're pissed off enough to write something like this, accusing me of being capable of such an atrocity, but you forget the last President to be murdered was a Democrat killed by a far Left patriot.
And Lincoln was killed by a far Left patriot too.
And now we have Obama, and we have stupid comments by far left people like you. If you would post something so stupid simply because you're upset about elections that don't matter, I wonder what crazy shit you're capable of doing when this do-nothing congress starts getting voted out in 2010 and a new Republican President is voted in 2012.
I'd bet you even money, but I doubt you have the intestinal fortitude or the cash to pay your losses. That leaves me with making a gentleman's bet, but you're clearly no gentleman.
No, better to watch you foam at the mouth and bark like a MoonBat. Sorry you had such a tough night. Get used to it.
because of the denial of those on the left and of course they are saying, whoppty do we won two governorships but, thats all there was to win last night. We will see them again 2010 but what many here don't understand is,last night's elections were a precursor to what is coming and,its showing you the mood of the country and its not exactly favorable towards democrats.
Being I'm in Michigan where the economy was hardest hit, people here don't understand why they (the democrats) are fiddle fucki-g with healthcare and not fixing the economy.Healthcare doesn't do you a shit bit of good if you don't have a job to put food on the table.
If the power supply waveform isn't pretty, neither is the sound in most cases.
yup, let's downplay it. Tea partiers and extremism got rejected.
I bet you are ready to proclaim the Angels the real winners of the World Series by virtue of having taken the Yankees to extra innings.

Right now your ideas smell worse than your breath.
Oh boy this is going to be a funny week as the apparatchiks get let off their leashes for a day or two.
Come on boys, what can you manage on your own?
Can you make it possible to tell you lot apart?
Or are you all going to carry on being Cluck-In-A-Bucket?Funny how that "2 buck chuck", which is probably what a lot of America eats, is such an insult in your expert hands. Once again your despicable hatred for your fellow Americans shines through.
Well done, little man, well done.

Clueless.
We had two Congressional elections yesterday and both were won by Democrats.
In terms of how people are likely to vote if elections were held tomorrow, Obama's numbers are currently at the level they were at when he won the election, and just about nothing currently polls worse than the Republican party. That's congressional approval rating, congressional gen ballot and the party ID question.

I'll never forget the time he told us that he had proof that Obama's Dreams of My Father was really written by William Ayers.
Took him out of contention for ever being considered a serious person in my book, forever.

and--of course--84% of Democrats. Exit polls in Virginia and New Jersey show majorities reporting that their Republican votes were not a referendum on Obama.
that they didn't understand before?
__
Probability is probably the key to life.
New Jersey and Virginia of course were doing so well during the Bush era, and Virginia has always been deep deep blue. It's terrifying for us. It's as bad as a Democrat winning NY 23.
...but think the election was a lose-lose proposition. Christy is no saint.I hope change is good.
