Sorry, I haven't heard the Canadian, but I think it unlikely that it would sound as good as a US Atlantic pressing w/ 1841 Bdwy or 75 Rockefeller Plaza (without W logo) on label perimeter AND "atgp" & "porky" & "pecko duck" in the deadwax. I've had several pressings of LZIV, and the one I described is head & shoulders above the others. A UK "porky" / "pecko duck" (Geo. Peckham, British mastering engr) is likely the best.Regards,

Seriously though we have a lot of the WEA records up here and quite frankly most of them sound flat to me, not sure what pressing you have but it may be ok. For the most part I prefer US, UK pressings.

I got this Led Zeppelin - Archive of Popular Music - Vol. 6 - Titled Stairway To Heaven
on Soviet era (1988) Melodiya label, pressed in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Anyone here
seen any one of those? Very curious about this item I picked up at a thrift store in California. Its not the original Atlantic sequence of tracks, has four tracks: Black Dog,
Rock and Roll, When the Levee Breaks and Stairway To Heaven on it only, the rest of the tracks are; Immigrant Song, Gallows Pole, Since I've Been Loving You. What's the story about this Melodiya issue. Anyone can shed some light on it, if you know please. The catalog number is C60 27501 005. Very intrigued. Oh, and the sound is very pleasing to me. More naturalness to the whole sound picture. Thank you.

What do you want to know about it? It's a unofficial unauthorised compilation issued by Melodija in late 80's as part of series "Archive of pop-rock music". There were also Deep Purple, Stewie Wonder, Doors, Creedence, David Bowie, a couple of Elton Johns and Elvis.
as a source they used regular lp's from private collections since they did not have access to orininal master tapes. The record you have is quite rare because it is Tashkent press (for those who do not know, Tashkent is a capital of Uzbekistan, a country in Middle Asia, one of former Soviet republics). Most were pressed in other Melodija factories in Moscow, Leningrad and other European factories. But it is important only for crazy hardcore collectors.
