The latest from Mojo magazine: "The Beatles' back catalogue will be reissued on vinyl, says Jeff Jones, Chief Executive of Apple Corps. Speaking exclusively to MOJO, Jones revealed that work on the next stage of the Beatles Remastered campaign is currently underway."
Mojo is reporting that Monday next week will be release day in the UK. Some questions being raised: will they be available individually or in box set like the mono CDs? will they be from the hi-rez digital masters made for the CDs, or completely redone from the same analog masters? will there BE any mono mixes for the vinyl?
Hopefully, they will be available individually. My main CD player refuses to play the CD configuration (dropping the horns off of Magical Mystery Tour, etc.) so vinyl would be ideal for me. But an entire box set? that's pushing things.
In fact at Apple I see nothing about a vinyl release at all. The only news at MOJO is that there will at some point be a vinyl release but nothing about dates or what will be released.
Yeah, I read the article too, and it doesn't have a release date as of yet.
I was just about to pony up for MMT, Sgt. Pepper, and Revolver on CD, as they have always been my fave (thinking about adding the Yellow Submarine soundtrack as well, although I have an Apple pressing still in NM shape!), but now I might just wait this one out until the LPs appear...
"We ask our artists to be true. Actually, we demand that our artists be true. When poets, storytellers, & singers lie to us for money, our culture is diseased & in decline."
-Robert Fripp
The article you referenced says there is no release date yet. Certainly not "next Monday."
It was posted on Mojo's newsletter that I receive regularly. To whit,
It Won't Be Long... We Hope.
MOJO received the news that the remastered Beatles back catalogue is set to appear on vinyl on Monday morning. What a Monday morning! Apple's CEO Jeff Jones confirmed what we've all been wishing for ever since the remasters campaign was set in motion four years ago. The news arrived in another week packed full of Fabs acitivity.

It's all about the music!
