Can anyone tell me why I have noticed that sometimes I hear a voice in one channel on LP playback very quietly seconds before it is heard for real??? Its like you get a preview of what is coming! Have I something slightly out in my setup?
Andy
Your stylus is picking up the groove from the left if it's a preview and from the right if it's a reprise. It's got something to do with the mastering process when they made the lacquer, a common defect.

It's called pre-echo and is one of the flaws in vinyl records. No format is perfect. Tape suffers from print-through and CD...well, it's CD. :-)

Thanks :) I always wondered if that was a vinyl thing!
