Interesting to see all the would-be entrepreneurs trying to build up their retirement portfolios by selling off their cherished and oh-so-rare MJ vinyl collection. Me? I'm more in line with caffeinator's solution-i.e., a well-deserved second life as sporting clays.
Which reminded me of the scene from 'Shaun of the Dead', wherein the protagonists must make the agonizing-or not-decision of which records to sacrifice as defensive weapons against the Ploddingly Slow Oncoming Hordes Of The Undead. For those who haven't seen the movie, here's a link to the scene in question. For the ultra-squeamish, there's a bit of blood, but if you made it through the climactic scene from 'Old Yeller', you should be okay. And btw, the movie is really funny.
Here's a list of what got tossed in the movie:
* Streetsounds Electro
* New Order-'Blue Monday'
* Prince's 'Batman' soundtrack
* Dire Straits
* Sade
So, which five records would you give up in a life or death battle to the finish with the ultimate face of terror-no, not Richard Simmons-zombies?
"dammit"
would be used to battle, halt and win any war with zombies.

Brilliant. But a bit surprised we're not seeing more of these Country/Rock match ups following the success of Robert Plant & Alison Krauss.
I'm smelling Grammy.

I would have to the lob the CDs first. I'm not wasting ANY vinyl on zombies if I can help it!
;^)
I suppose "I Walked with a Zombie" is the obvious choice but why go for the obvious?
I'm not throwing any of my records no matter what.

Columbia Masterworks was notorious for them; classical music for people who's attention spans are too short to listen to the whole thing.

Zombie Projectiles #1-4: Definitely my mind-numbing Classic Records single-sided 45 RPM Cowboy Junkies Trinity Sessions four-record set, but I wouldn't need to throw it. All'z I gotta do is spin it and those poor undead guys and gals would be stricken with a boredom so profound that their heads would explode. My own head would remain intact by dint of industrial strength earplugs.
Oh, and Zombie Projectile #5 would be my wife's Jeanne C. Riley LP, which I would happily throw at any target; dead, undead, living, inanimate; you name it, I'll throw it.

reelsmith's axiom : Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
Oh wait...wrong movie...
Maybe throw the Slim Whitman...and that whole stack of "Living Strings" stuff in my parents' downstairs closet..
I mean, seems logical that to battle Living Dead, one might use Living Strings...
Plus it all sucks...and if I played it, it would make MY head explode...
I guess I've seen one too many campy movies featuring expoding heads. My post above featured an exploding head too, but well after your exploding head referrence. Normally, I'd say that you can't have too many exploding heads, but credit where credit is due. I guess great exploding heads think alike.

Finally, a use for unwanted demo discs!
what a waste! hp's opinion on equipment is MUCH better that the music he sometimes recommends.

So, for self preservation I'd be tossing those couple of 12" classical 78 sets I have that are really too low fi to be enjoyable anyway.
MJ Vinyl is almost as common as Barbara...
..would they stop and listen to it or continue to atack? :)
