"For of all sad words of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: "It might have been!" - John Greenleaf Whittier
Follow Ups:
Steely Dan Cisco reissue "Aja"
1) New Adventures in HiFi - US copy, sounds great. Probably my favorite REM album and the LP seems to have a lot more detail than the CD.
2) Rubycon - Picked up a German copy. For some reason I've seen this album and Phaedra on US or UK pressings but this is the first German copy I've seen. Great sound but a bit noisy. This is a case where the LP is much better than the CD or SACD but finding a really quiet copy has been impossible for me.
3) The Future Now - Nice UK copy picked up for only $6.

...Been listening to ex-Rainbow rock band member Tony Carey's 80's side project under the name Planet P and one of his solo albums...I have always liked this artist's own style of rock with both the Planet P albums and his solo LP "Some Tough City"(Planet P project has an 80's synth prog-rock experimental sound while his solo material is just good ol' rock to me). The Planet P "Pink World" double album I have is in a nice bright solid pink vinyl---His "Some Tough City" album is very rare and hard to find on cd (usually found as an import and quite pricey)...
This music ALWAYS takes me back to the summers of my teen years...Not a care in the world (sigh)........
Earlier, I had Simple Minds "Street Fighting Years"
Matt
Planet P Project is one of my favorite albums, bar none. I didn't even know "Pink" existed until last year, so I got the cd on ebay. It MIGHT be a copy by the looks of the case and inserts, but the disc looks pretty authentic. If it's a copy, it's a pretty good one. I should try and get my hands on some of their old videos. I have a cd compilation of a dozen or so of my most favorite songs ever, and "Static" is on there!!! When I was younger, I couldn't stand 'Why Me', probably because they killed it on the radio. Now I love it! Can't explain when or why I changed over, but I did. Same for 'Broken Wings' from Mr Mister, HATED it, now I love it.
I like it---the only album I have by that group(and I often hear critics and other people rip into that album or group from time to time).
I have been playing Don Henley's "Building The Perfect Beast" w/the Boys Of Summer track(on side two, if you listen to the electronic instruments and drum machines it's very reminiscent of Prince's 1999/Purple Rain instrumentation or era, and even has that slight funk sound to it ---especially on the tracks "All She Wants to Do is Dance" and "Sunset Grill")...The other Henley album I really dig is "I Can't Stand Still" with the "Dirty Laundry" song-----kick 'em when they're up,kick 'em when they're down, kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down...

...The album cover for "Some Tough City" is from a scene lifted off the video. Hmmm, that explains the "story" behind the album cover-photo.
John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman on Impulse A-40 always blows my mind in the sublimest of ways!

Cobalt Hour:
Great LP and songs. This is one record that I always listen to both sides.

Crazy dude offered up a collection of more than 21000 live bootlegs by more than 4000 bands to anyone that would send him a 750GB hard drive. Took him up on it. Holy guacamole! Haven't listened to analog since UPS came by on Saturday.

- Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is an opportunity to enjoy the music.
the Cooder is all what it has been said to be. Wonderful sonics, beautiful music. You are there.
Matt Dennis is new to me. Love his style and voice. Junior and Julie breaks my heart in that good way.
Have a good one.

Elliott's "Country Style" is a decent enough (crappy stereo should have been mono) 1972 re-release of a Prestige/Folklore album from 1962. The sonics are so-so but the songs are a great mix of country style folk. Some of you may have heard of Ramblin' Jack from Jerry Jeff Walker."Live At The Opry" was released by MCA in 1988 and includes performances from 1956 to 1962. Pretty good album. Vocal timbers are pleasant, no sibilance from hot mics. The song selection is unusual in that a couple songs were not released on her studio LPs. Plus, there's something about live performances. Just seem more "real" somehow and Patsy really shines.
And next up is The Blaster's "Live At The Venue LONDON"
Tom
Find that record more appropriate than Quiet is the new Loud.
Love Feist on it, BTW.

The Beatles And Tony Sheridan, German pressing.

"Kindness is in our power, even when fondness is not" -- Samuel Johnson.
It's the only RT record I have in the collection. I keep thinking I'm going to pick up something else -- Long Misty Days or Bridge of Sighs -- but I never seen to get around to it.
I've got lots of Trower.
Top 3:
-Bridge of Sighs
-Bruce, Lordan, Trower ("BLT" - Jack Bruce is, as you'd expect, incredible on this album.)
-In City Dreams
-Caravan to Midnight (honorable mention).
Regards,
Jim

Everything's nice when you're covered in ice...
....on Everest.
Not an early pressing, but you can't argue with free.
On a nice 1960's DGG tulips pressing conducted by Von Karajan in my classical haul from Amoebas today (which included a sealed DCC Everest Tchaikovsky Hamlet by Stokowski). Both highly recommended!

Geez, I hope I haven't missed one ...
One I always meant to pick up and never did. Saw it reissued at the local record store and snapped it up. Glad I did, it's excellent. Cheers.
