I really just want a musical, reliable used turntable for under $500 that will really let the music come through.
Technics 1200 looks like DJ turntables............not sure this is gonna sound nice enough.
Thanks for any thoughts.
cheaply made MDF British belt drive.
Those would not last an hour on the road professionaly.
I'll take heavy duty over flimsy any day.

If you setup the TEchnics SL 12xx with the right cartridge you are sitting on the right tree. Most parts of the 12xx are the same the the "audiophile" SL 25 Technics.

The 1200 tables are not only rock solid, nearly bullet proof 'tables; they were originally designed to be Technics late 70s top o' the line audiophile DD table . I couldn't be happier. For performance, it runs neck & neck with my Nottingham Horizon and has the added bonus of easy interchange of carts, thanks to the detachable headshell. I have an AT440ML w/the new 440mla stylus on it now, and it...well...rocks.
Huckfinn should consider buying new. I bought mine new from musicians friend for $499 + free shipping.
Regards,
Jim
You bought it for $399. The nice thing about that is its tax free.
