they were playing the BeeGee's album with "Holiday" and all the other "Beat the Beatles" songs of that time (1967).
Yard saling and listening to the radio while Barb ran up and down throughout the neighborhood we had driven to.
I was suddenly 17 and felt the same feelings I did then...thoughts of the Vietnam War and how scared we all were...the warm feelings that the song brought...remembering singing along with friends...holding a girl (I can't remember her name, but she felt good!).
It was almost like I was tripping...and I didn't do acid until much later! But I could see the dark parking lot where we were hanging out, feel the seat of my '56 Chevy, and of course that girl sitting beside me.
"Ooh, you're a holiday, such a holiday. You're a holiday, every day, such a holiday..."
I am not kidding, tears came to my eyes as I thought about being that young. So young, so dumb. But through it all feeling the fright of "what if I get drafted?"
And then my wife came up to the car and said, "This guy's got records, you want to see them?"

If I had more money I'd soon be broke...but I'd have more LPs!
Follow Ups:
Songs to Aging children was one of my favorites from Joni. I built a set of heathkits back in 64 and bought my first TT, a dual 1019 and used to listen to the Doors, Cream, Ultimate Spinach, vanilla fudge and Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, On the FM receiver I built I used to listen to Jean Shepherd at night, Allison Steele the night bird, Sometimes when I hear those tunes I am back in my room from that time. The mind is an amazing thing, (even if it doesn't work as well as it used to!). Norm
I sure am happy I turned on the radio this morning. I'm still basking in the afterglow!
