Step-up transformers reflect capacitance back to the cartridge in an amount equal to the capacitance across their secondary multiplied by the square of their turns-ratio. Consequently, it is best to maintain the shortest length of interconnect from the transformer's secondary to your phono stage. In other words, it would be much better to mount your Cinemag in your phono stage than on your turntable.Mounting a step-up transformer on a turntable is the worst place to mount it!
