I can't count the number of people who complained about the noise their brandy new CD player made after the experts told them how "quiet" digital would be. They weren't happy when we told them that CDs didn't get rid of the tape hiss.

1991 - some poor sap who had an enormous hardon for digital sold his Rega Planar 3 to me for $300 (including K9 cartridge & RB300). It replaced the cheap-ass no-name turntable I had been using and my life took a turn for the better.
I wonder if that poor sod is kicking himself to this day.
