Every time I do a cartridge upgrade, generally moving from broader more generic stylus shapes to more & more micro / fineline types, my entire record collection yeilds lots of undiscovered dust.

This is similar to your vtf change in that we are both plowing the vinyl fields to a new depth. The carbon-fiber brush is the answer here, followed perhaps by a fluid-cleaning to try and clear the path.
