How's that Kenichiro Sacre?
the Rodzinski is excellent. But my favorite conductor is Igor Markevitch!!! Just listen to his interpretation of the final movement in the Tchaikovsky 4th on Philips.... I can just see the strings playing so fast that they're falling out of their chairs.
Sim
is the 'Zep, ZZ Top, Lynrd Skynrd, and Jethro Tull?
Playing nothing but classical will ruin your cartridge.

If I ever had the time, I'd post a bunch of mine. All Melodiya, many of them ordered from a record retailer in Moscow. Although some have rather poor audio, that's often more a factor of age or crappiness of the original recording, not the Melodiya pressing. And many of them are surprisingly good audio.
I'm a big fan of Russian composers, especially Taneyev, Rimsky-Korsakov and Rachmaninoff.

Now you know you absolutely have to post. I can't get enough Melodiya. Are they all classical?
Thanks for sharing.

Yes, all classical. I have lots of classical by Russian composers/performers on other labels too, of course. It's just I get a kick out of playing the Melodiya LPs. I especially like the Glazunov recordings and the Roshdestvensky records. I have around 60 Melodiya LPs.I know how to link to images on the web, but how do you upload your own pictures to this site?

Did General Flynn come over for a listening session :)?
Don't put the Bowie badge or Morpheus toy in the photo as I like to imagine you have really tall record shelves and these covers are all lined-up together in one long column!

curious at best....Will you disclose what is behind them?
Also there is some level of selectivity i detect...for e.g. no Prokofiev

I do not know any Russians, have never been to Russia and have no business dealings with Russia. Anything said to the contrary is Fake News!

...they're (some of them) right here! My introduction to Prokofiev was via Sterling Holloways' wonderful recording of "Peter and the Wolf". I have about a dozen different versions of Peter... from Boris Karloff to Mia Farrow.

That's funny. I was just reading about George Raft's infatuation with Betty Grable.

Betty Grable...I think she had legs?

Yup.
In a past life, I played opposite her in summer stock, Born Yesterday. Kurt Kasznar was the heavy. She was 50, I was 26.

Cool. Kurt Kaszner must have been larger than life?

He seemed to be a nice man and, as an excellent actor, could do whatever was required. Remember, he was in the original production of Waiting for Godot.
Me and him. I have one of me and Grable but she looks too old for the part. She died of lung cancer seven years later, age fifty-seven.

Thanks for making me smile. That's a great picture along with probably great memories for you.

I spun some Renaissance this weekend.
Thanks to Megan Phillips on the high school newspaper staff who introduced me to them in '73. Watched them live several times back in the day. Annie's five octave voice has always been wonderful.
Watch Scheherazade from 2011. She can still hold that top note near the end around 24:00. :)
I wondered how Renaissance snuck in there.
I have two different(front cover type) copies of Novella.
This passed for cover art around 1950.
Our Magnavox console did a pretty good number on the surfaces.
But hey, when you've got nonbreakable vinylite .........

Cool cover, Ionic I believe? Is Vinylite for those on a diet? ;^)
