I am a blues Man all my life but I picked up this lp Sam Lazar Title Soul Merchant on ARGO LP 714 1962 first listen very nice. Like I said I know very little in the Jazz World but this is very smooth. Ah thought I would throw it out there.

Sam is a new one for me. His Wiki says he just dropped out of the scene somewhere in the early 60's. B3 player, I'm only hip to Jimmy Smith and a few of the usual suspects. Also mentions he played with Grant Green, who I'm a fan of. Enjoy.
edit:left out a small detail
He was FRONTING with GG on guitar and...oh someone to play bass. WILLIE DIXON.
This dude is the real deal. That pressing, of those 3 is the one to find in the bins.

Thanks for the post Dirty, much appreciated 1960 with Willie Dixon I like the thought of listening to that its on my radar now. Willie wrote a lot of songs a hell of a lot of blues the number 500 sticks in my head but I am not much on the facts guy. I know what I love in music and when it hits me thats it. Grant Green I have several of his recordings but there is a bass player and I can't bring up his name at the moment when I do I will hit you with it and of course you will know of him already but you can tell me what you think. I hate when this happens so many great artist out there well he is long gone but I will hit you up when it comes to me old age I guess ?
Thanks for your time and info.

KoB -
You may enjoy Kenny Burrell. Kind of blues/jazz or jazz/blues guitar depending on the song.
I see Jimmy Smith was mentioned was mentioned in another post - THE man who brought organ into jazz. Literally. Plays a blues into jazz style as well.
And guess what two guys played a lot together - Kenny Burrell and Jimmy Smith : )
Jimmy passed away several years ago. Kenny is a music instructor at UCLA last I knew.
Stereos are neat, but throw some great music on and. . . wow
Happy listening.

I have several Kenny Burell LPs when I went to the record shows Jazz was cheap and bought anything that had that blues feel to it but eventually I got the swing of how to buy the blues cheap anyhow the bass player I always search out is Ernest Crawford if my memory came back to me. Always enjoyed the stand up bass what did electric bass come to be in 1951 ? Talking over my experience.
