"Gate of Dreams" [W-B BS3006, 1977] with a jazz combo fronting a symphony orchestra. This guy arranged and composed everything in the world from about 1960 to 2010 including the instrumental portions of 70 Cree Taylor albums for Verve. I just pulled this out of a .50-Euro bin because it has Michael Brecker, Joe Sample, and George Benson. If you're gonna emulate Duke Ellington I say "go big" and Ogerman did (no vocals though). Excellent sweeping score that somehow weaves beautifully around the playing of these CT-stable virtuosi.
Follow Ups:
That IS a wonderful album! Great moods.
But, I'm in Baroque mode today.
1979, doesn't say digital. I don't have the ceedee to check.
I've been playing this one for at least thirty or so years. The surfaces were "Lasted" and as quiet as a new born vinyl.
Sounds really fine.

The Archiv records I have all say digital when they were digital. 1979 is probably too early.
