I need the weight (Not effective mass) of any rega tonarm, but not the arm from a P1.
The Rb250, RB300, any of the new 3 point mounts, etc. Could anyone be nice enough to weigh one, without the RCA's touching the scale?
I got a new tonearm for my gyro, that uses a rega mount, but the weight of the arm is significantly heavier. I plan on drilling out stock armboard to reduce some weight.
I can't get a good bounce with the new arm, it would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Please clarify your question which will help the answer. Is your new arm a Rega? You say the new arm " uses a Rega mount" which implies that it is not actually a Rega and therefore the weight of actual Rega arms may not be relevant. It is very difficult to find the weight. I have a vague memory of 420g but this is not reliable and I think may relate to my Rega based Audiomods series 5 arm.
None of the Rega arms uses a 3 point mount as far as I am aware. All use a single hole with a large retaining nut below. Do you mean 3 point cartridge and not arm mount?
EDIT: Ah yes, 3 screws and the hole.
If you have a Gyro then why drill out an exisitng mount when Michell supply correct mounts (including correct weight) for a great variety of tonearms and have been known to make custom ones when the stock ones prove unsuitable. Michell is not a company that charges huge amounts of money.
Which brings me to the status of the Gyro that you have. Are the armboard standoffs metal or plastic and are they drilled through so as to take a full length bolt or are they drilled part way from each end requiring two fixing bolts? In the latter case there should be a grounding link wire.
The reason why I am asking the latter question is that later versions do not connect the armboard plate directly to the subchassis as this transmits a bass resonance back through to the cartridge. If you are going to change the mounting plate then I suggest giving the standoffs some attention at the same time if you have the earlier version. Worthwhile IMO and, again, not a king's ransom to buy.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
My tonearm is The Wand Plus, it weighs well over a pound, so the arm is too heavy for the weighted rega armboard I have... so I just need the difference in weight between a rega arm, and my Wand tonearm. This would tell me how much material to remove from the armboard.
Hope that's clearer.
The answer is found on The Wand's own website:
"Will The Wand work on my suspended turntable? The Wand weighs ~500g (~1lb) this is similar to SME 3009 and a little heavier than Rega arms (420g). So it should be within the adjustment range of most turntables."
So my memeory of 420g appears to have been correct.
You would therefore need to remove 80g. At least that would be correct if The Wand manufacturers were consistent as elsewhere in the same piece of information they say that The Wand weighs 650g. And there must be variations on this due to differing models ( Plus, Master and the optional arm lengths). Anyway I am sure that you know the weight of your own arm :-)
Thank you. I did not see that info on the site, sorry.
I did however weigh my arm... it was almost 750 grams. (I will have to double check)
I tried removing 80 grams first, but it was still way too heavy.
I finally ended up removing 305grams from the armboard with an end mill bit on my drill press. It bounces pretty good now, and all spring towers are at the same length.
Glad to be of assistance. It would be nice, if you can find the time at some point, if you could post a review or just note your experiences with The Wand. It's not a common choice of arm and I for one would be interested in how you find it compared to its predecessor.
