Ricky Lee Jones- self titled.c1979 Warner Bros / WW1 WW2 in dead wax
This was her debut release, and contained the hit "Chucky E's In Love".
RLJ was close miked like she was caressing your ear, but with lots of breath, air and space. Electric Bass and Kick Drum hit you in the solar plexus. Very nice layering of musicians, with everyone in their own space, and spread across my room. Plenty of sonic easter eggs to tickle your ears.
It would be great if all pop music were recorded as well as this LP. Easy to understand why this release became a demonstration favorite.
Cheap and available everywhere !

It is a great album, and well recorded, apart from one problem, which my dog made me aware of a few years back.
Now, I can't listen to it without thinking about it.
Cheers,
John K

Is very good also. It's unfortunate that it's pressed on "virgin vinyl" but thats the way it is.If the 45RPM box set was pressed on the old super vinyl I believe it would surpass the original MoFi pressing. As it is, the 45RPM is better in some respects but loses because of the added noise from the vinyl being used.

I have the WB pressing and the MF pressing. To be honest I could live with the WB pressing without regrets but the MF pressing does add something. It is a fantastic recording regardless. I am going to have to throw one of my copies on shortly! IMO the MF pressing is among the most successful MF pressing that I have heard, including my UHQR's, but the reason for this is that the WB pressing sets such a high mark.

The original WB is good, The original MFSL is better. One of my Go-to LPs. Paid out the nose for the MFSL from a UK seller, but worth every cent. The string bass on "Easy Money" and "Danny's All-Star Joint" is exceptional.
Opus 33 1/3
I was selling audio equipment when it cam out and I bought the Mofi new. Every body I knew in the business had a copy. Most of my friends did to. When you heard it, you had to have it. I actually bought the WB copy in a thrift store. I was curious because not all Mofi pressings sound better than the original. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but in this case Mofi had a great starting point. It is one of the audiophile recordings that delivers 100% musically.

Looked for 2-3 years for the MFSL. Finally found a NM across the pond.
Opus 33 1/3
I did not realize the record was that rare, but I did realize it was that good. Worth the search IMO!
Dave
priced at $300 on up.
Opus 33 1/3
That's getting into UHQR territory! It is probably because people like me that have it would never think of selling it.
Dave
I paid just under $200 for my NM original MFSL. No regrets.
